History
1. The Santhal
rebellion or Santhal Hool:
It
was a rebellion in present-day Jharkhand and West Bengal against the East India
Company (EIC) and zamindari system by the Santhals. It started on June 30, 1855,
and on November 10, 1855, martial law was proclaimed by the East India Company
which lasted until January 3, 1856, when martial law was suspended and the
rebellion was eventually suppressed by the presidency armies. The rebellion was
led by the four sibling brothers - Sidhu, Kanhu, Chand, and Bhairav. 30th June is a very important day. Our
tribal brothers and sisters celebrate this day as 'Hool Diwas'.
Alluri Sitarama Raju:
On
7 May 1924, Freedom fighter and leader of the 'Rampa Revolt' Alluri Sitarama
Raju was killed by the British. Inspired by the Revolutionaries of Bengal, he
led the Rampa Revolt to fight against the discriminatory practices of the
British.

3. World Environment Day:
Celebrated
On June 5. The name of this campaign conducted by Indian government is – ‘Ek
Ped Maa Ke Naam’. The
theme for 2024, "Our Land, Our Future. We are
#GenerationRestoration," emphasizes the importance of restoring land,
combating desertification, and enhancing resilience to drought.

5.Arakku Coffee:
Araku
coffee is produced in large quantities in Alluri Sita Rama Raju district of
Andhra Pradesh. It is known for its rich flavour and aroma. Around 1.5 lakh
tribal families are associated with the cultivation of Araku coffee. Girijan
cooperative has played a very important role in taking Araku coffee to new
heights.
